TIER ONE UNIVERSITIES

Guiding Emerging Leaders

Our goal is to motivate a number of Emerging Leaders from low-income ZIP codes to apply, attend, thrive and graduate from Tier One Universities, and colleges committed to meeting 100% of demonstrated financial need for accepted students.

IMPROVE COLLEGE COMPLETION RATES

A Community's Role

"It will take a community effort to improve college completion rates." San Antonio Express News Opinion, October 24, 2019. What does the Eastside community effort to improve college completion rates for Hurricane alumni attending out-of-state amazing colleges and universities look like?  What does that effort for students attending in-state colleges and universities with low graduation rates look like?

CYBERSECURITY SPECIALISTS

Developed on the Eastside

Support Hurricanes participating in Cyber P-TECH USA at Sam Houston in partnership with St. Philip's College who are seeking to graduate with an Associate's of Applied Science degree as Cybersecurity Specialists in 2023 and after.

FAQ

DOES KINDNESS MATTER

Yes, Kindness inspires and nurtures the human spirit.

We share our Kindness Gifts with urban youth and in return receive their gifts of Time, Talent, Thoughts, and Training.

Our generous donors allow us to communicate the message: "People care about your education and your can go to amazing colleges and universities!"

DOES ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE MATTER

Yes, it matters on San Antonio's Eastside.

Sam Houston's Academic Decathlon team has won district and regional competitions and qualified to participate at the Texas State Competition every year since 2014.

Hurricanes can earn Associates in Applied Science (Cybersecurity Specialists) through St. Philip's College while at Sam Houston.

WHAT DO WE DO

We share our Gifts of Kindness with students from low-income ZIP codes who demonstrate a willingness and/or interest in preparing to attend Tier One Universities and other colleges/ universities committed to meeting 100% of demonstrated financial need.

WHERE DO YOU DO IT

Sam Houston High is a public high school in San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD).  Located on the Eastside in ZIP code 78220 it serves students mainly from low-income families. Public tax dollars do not even come close to meeting the needs of students there.  We believe that private funds and community-based support can make a huge difference in high-achieving student outcomes.  I live in the same ZIP code and am an alumnus of Sam Houston
